The patterns or motifs on this piece are created using acid etching. An item is painted with a resistant material and the motif is hand-engraved onto the surface. The whole piece is then immersed in acid and the lines that have been scratched out are eaten away by the acid and the surface that is painted is protected. The process is artisanal and imperfections must be expected and considered as a unique characteristic of your specific piece.
